Protecting morning time

I’m really happy with the fact that I’m being consistent with the 5AM start to my day. I’m so happy that I scheduled a meeting today at 6:30AM. But then something didn’t feel right. It didn’t sit well with me. I realized that I want to protect my morning time. I don’t want to check social media, my email inbox, or to have meetings with other people.

I want to connect with my own values and ambitions. I want to work on projects that matter to me. I don’t want to feel any sense of obligation towards others in those precious first hours of the day.

That time is for me. Moving forward, I don’t want to schedule anything AT LEAST until 7AM. I might even push that to 8 or 9. Just because I’m waking up early in the morning doesn’t mean I need to have an open schedule for other people.

Do you have times in your day where you refuse to have social obligations?

I think it’s a great strategy. Most people know that I am unreachable after 8 PM, and it’s rare that someone interferes with my golden time in the morning between when I wake up and 7 AM.

@therealbrandonwilson “Unreachable”. That’s powerful!
