I left my house at around 7:00 AM on the first leg of the annual Wilsons Promontory run with the Zoom Zoom club. I planned to arrive at the starting point in Meeniyan by 9:00 AM. To avoid any unnecessary stops, I prepared a cup of coffee for the journey and packed my lunch in my cooler for later at Tidal River.

On a cold and foggy morning, I didn’t let the weather deter me from folding down the roof of my car and bundling up to stay warm. The Wilsons Promontory run is an annual event highly anticipated by the club members. When I arrived, I counted almost 40 cars from members who had driven from far and wide to participate in this popular drive. Wilsons Promontory, also known as The Prom, is a national park in the Gippsland region of Victoria. It is renowned for its stunning scenery, diverse wildlife, and beautiful beaches. The park is a preferred destination for camping, hiking, and wildlife watching and attracts visitors from all over the world.

After making a short stop at Yanakie for a toilet break, we finally arrived at Tidal River following a two-hour drive. It was raining as we entered the national park, but we kept driving with our roofs down as the weather did not dampen our enthusiasm. We continued driving until the rains stopped. As we arrived at Tidal River, we were greeted by the towering figure of Mount Oberon in the background, which marked the end of our run. On my way back home, I decided to take a detour along some new roads that I had not driven before, and we ended up covering almost 500 kilometres by the end of the day. It was a great day out.
