Book

I was looking at some things yesterday. I wanted to structure the book that I am writing properly. I have many bits of them here and there but there is no proper structure.

So I went to a few sites to read up on plot and such. Though I have read many books and watched many shows, I knew nothing about character building and plot. There are so many small details that go into giving a story structure. I wish I had taken a course or two back in college to get myself familiar with all that.

Now reading through the online articles, I felt panic rising. How am I trying to write a book without having any background of the basics? It is one thing to write a blog or a single article. Totally different if I want to write a coherent story that can be called a novel.

I did make small progress. I decided on a few things.

  • I am going to write in the first person. That is what I am comfortable with.
  • I am writing a character driven plot. Now that I understand the different types of plot, I know that character-driven is what I am going to write.
  • Apparently, there needs to be a conflict. I wasn’t sure how to structure it. But looking at a few templates, I am beginning to understand how to structure that.
  • I have a better understanding of who my audience will be and what I want them to get out of my book.

All is all - things are moving.

Is this the auto-biography book you were writing? Or a new one?
