Create, not consume

I was feeling kind of tired and demotivated this morning, so I ventured into Tiktok and scrolled along mindlessly for a bit.

Yet somehow it didn’t feel as good as I expected it to be. It didn’t refresh or uplift me. The endless scrolling just continued to drain me out, drop by drop, even though it entertained. After a while, I felt more tired and demotivated.

Noticing this feeling, I decided to stop and switch over to creating instead. Started writing content for LifeBlog and the other #100daysofmarketing tasks I usually do.

And the change was immediate.

Once I started typing on my mechanical keyboard, I could feel some of the lethargy lifting. Once the words started flowing, motivation started coming back.

I didn’t get completely refreshed for sure, but it definitely felt better than just consuming cheap dopamine carelessly.

I often read platitudes on Twitter that’s about “Create, not consume”. Even though I’m a creator through and through, and always enjoyed creating, I always only half-believed that line.

Today was the first time I truly felt the difference, in body and mind.

Creating is a higher quality, more wholesome form of consumption.

Creating is better than consuming.

Create, not consume.
