Creativity

I have been thinking about my art and creativity a little over the last week. Perhaps it was because of bumping into an old school and college friend who was in my art classes. Or perhaps seeing on Facebook the wife of a friend taking part in a local “Open Studio” or “Art Week” event where local artists open their studios or galleries for people to tour. I do wish I had ended up in a more creative career, something artistic or design orientated.

My father once said that he can see how I have excelled in an IT career, especially support. You have to be creative to see possible causes and solutions. It’s not quite the same as painting and drawing, but there is a creative element in there somewhere.

Many of my school friends became designers or artists and I won’t lie that I am jealous of them. But I also wonder if it is their “career” or just something they do on the side. Being an artist is not necessarily a career choice you make lots of money from.
