Day 38: 🤍
isra.a.writes • 4 Jul 2025 •
A poem I wrote when I was 16 weeks and one day into motherhood.
I take every opportunity to stare into your glass eyes—
full and focused,
a brown ocean reflecting my slanted expression,
my new self peering back at me:
the one who daydreamed of this dream.
With your wide-eyed blinks, you tuck me in.
I cherish this moment—locked in your little gaze.
I watch as your eyelids softly melt into slumber,
a sleepy smile blooming on your cheeks- a grateful one forming on mine.
I caress your weighted frame against my heart.
I’ll hold your full self
just keep me in your eyes,
Make room for me in your little heart.
