I just went food shopping and was trying to stay as healthy as possible, exchanging white rice for brown, white bread for brown and adding a few additional herbs, vegetables and fruit into the mix.
As I was traversing the isles, I kept thinking of the food that ]one of the professors involved with the Zoe program eats in a day](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNQXeQ9KDW0). His diet seems alien to me, especially compared to what I was putting in my trolley.
I glanced at the Kefir in the yoghurt section, but decided to pass on that one. I looked at the extra-virgin olive-oil and decided not to buy it because it was so expensive (and I still have lots of normal olive oil in the cupboard to use). I looked at the chickpeas and lentils, but decided I didn’t know what or how to cook with them.
Other things like breakfast cereal made me think twice about what I was putting into the trolley. I am still haunted by the feeling that I am poisoning my family with my shitty food choices. I pictured them eating a plant-based meal, complaining that it was horrible as I was choking down some white fish or chicken, which I never eat because I don’t like it.
I threw in a lemon, some seeded brown bread and some chives and just decided that I would have to be happy with adding small incremental changes for now, until I decide if I want to go on to the Zoe program for real.
