I had a little chuckle to myself this evening when my youngest daughter complained about being tired after three days of partying. She firmly believed that after many months of lockdown, she felt she couldn’t handle partying like she used to. I reminded her that she is only twenty-two and most young adults of her age feel the same way after consuming a little too much alcohol.
I often reflect on my children and what I was like at their age. I did all the same things they do, spend time with friends, drink too much alcohol and partied hard. The good thing is that neither of my girls has taken up the gaspers, unlike many young adults of my youth.
However, the most important thing I realise about my girls is that they have much better insights into life at their age. They have insights in life that I never acquired until my late thirties. Moreover, they possess an abundance of self-awareness and can articulate their thoughts and feelings on many subjects.
They are not immune to the challenges and struggles in their life, but they appear to be better at identifying an issue, articulating how they feel, and finding a solution. I don’t ever recall being able to do that at their age.

@therealbrandonwilson - Gaspers are cigarettes, prolonged use makes you gasp for air.
