Making a video

I made my first YouTube video today. I’m still working on creating “comprehensible input” that I can use to learn Japanese–I used NotebookLM to create a Japanese-language discussion about Hayao Miyazaki and made that into a barebones video. The background was generated with Ideogram, and I uploaded it as an unlisted YouTube video so I’d have a central place I could watch it. Super easy, barely an inconvenience.
To make the dialogue I switched my output language in NotebookLM to Japanese (日本語), uploaded some source material, and gave it some custom instructions ChatGPT generated for me.
- Please summarize this content using simple and clear vocabulary, with short and natural sentence structures suitable for a language learner. Avoid overly technical words or slang.
- Please write the summary in a warm, friendly, and slightly enthusiastic tone, as if you are speaking to a friend.
- Please focus the summary on describing actions and events rather than abstract ideas or opinions.
Or, in Japanese.
この内容を、語彙が簡単でわかりやすく、自然で短い文章にまとめてください。専門用語やスラングは避けて、外国語学習者に適した表現にしてください。友達に話しかけるように、温かく親しみやすい、少し熱意のある口調で要約を書いてください。要約では、抽象的なアイデアや意見ではなく、動作や出来事の説明に重点を置いてください。
If I can streamline the process, I’ll probably upload a few more videos like this and make a playlist.
