In the 1950s, ‘60s, and ‘70s, the British automotive brand MG was widely recognised for its two-seater sports cars. The classic MGA and MGB were popular models that were sold globally. Today, the MG brand is owned by the Chinese carmaker SAIC Motor and has been producing ordinary SUVs under the MG brand.

The Chinese manufacturer is set to introduce its first sports car, the MG Cyberster. This all-electric roadster combines MG’s iconic heritage with modern electric innovation. When it is released next year, it will become the quickest and most expensive vehicle ever sold by the Chinese car maker in Australia. It can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 3.2 seconds. The Cyberster will be available locally in one top-of-the-range, all-wheel-drive model grade with a range of 444 kilometres. The price range for the Cyberster will be between $100,000 and $150,000.

At that price, it is unlikely to trouble the best-selling sportscar in Australia, the Mazda MX-5, which is half the price of the MG.
