People behind my back

I’ve come to realize just how sensitive I am to working in the wrong environment. There are a lot of environmental factors that influence my attention. If there’s too much movement around me, the temperature, poor lighting, and the list goes on and on. One factor I’m noticing now is having my back to other people.
I know I feel comfortable sitting at the tables at the very end of my favorite cafe, with my back to the wall. But this session I sat at the table closes to the door, with my back to all the other tables behind me. It’s not a comfortable place for me to sit. A big chunk of my attention seems fogged up by this small environmental factor.
It took me a while to get into the rhythm of work and I still don’t feel fully comfortable working on the things I want to work on. It feels so strange how such factors can have an impact on the psyche!
But I would like to be the kind of person who isn’t easily influenced by these things. I want to align with my preferences - where I can - and minimize the negative impact of not having my preferences met.
Are there environments where your brain seems to shut off?
