Setting boundaries

People often assume that boundaries are things we set for other people to ensure our time and priorities are respected. But boundaries are also things we set for ourselves to ensure we can manage different commitments without feeling overwhelmed or scattered.

I use boundaries to focus on one area at a time or even within one area: having different times to create and promote.

Content marketing blurs the line a bit between creating and promoting (which is it?), but the point isn’t to maintain rigid distinctions. Instead, we want to know what thinking hat we need to wear and what tools we’ll be using, then filter out everything else.

Coming up with a strategy isn’t the same as designing a post or engaging with comments. The goal is to ensure we can focus on one thing at a time.

Do you set boundaries for yourself to manage your focus?
