Silence

One day a week, I pretty much get the house to myself.

My wife is out at work most of the day, one of my sons is at work and the other spends the day relaxing up in his bedroom.

I don’t usually have the TV on and just enjoy the quiet. The silence is only broken by the pings and dings of emails, notifications or calls I need to take.

I like these quiet times and feel I don’t often get enough. If I am up earlier than everyone else, I like to sit and drink my tea quietly, catching up on Facebook or Twitter. Those are the only other quiet times I get to myself.

As soon as my wife gets up, she puts the TV on to watch the news. And then it is on all day as background noise unless we go out.

I should probably take advantage of this time, mute my phone and laptop and meditate for 10 minutes, or just close my eyes and listen to my thoughts.

The world can be a crazy, frantic place when you let in interruptions and noise.

Lovely. I don’t get enough of that too, having the house to myself. Great reminder, thank you!
