Vegas impressions - night one

We arrived in Vegas yesterday afternoon, and the first order of business was not to check in at the hotel but to visit one of our favorite spots: Pop’s. Pop’s serves the best Philly cheesesteak that I’ve ever had. While my taste and smell are still not back to 100%, I can confirm that the cheesesteak with extra wiz is still spot on.

Dinner was procured, and we then proceeded to the Westin just off the strip. I used to stay in casino hotels, but now I prefer a non-casino hotel to avoid all the hubbub. There were no issues with check-in, and our 17th-floor room has a nice view of the Linq High Roller, the largest observation wheel in North America. I took a ride on it on a previous trip, and it offers a nice bird’s eye view of the city.

Last night I ventured out to the Strip to a few casinos: The Flamingo, The Linq, and Harrah’s. The Strip was hopping with all kinds of people. My first impression of the casino floors was that the machines and tables are much more spread out and there are fewer of them. Perhaps this was a consequence of Everyone’s Favorite Virus™️. I noticed an abundance of the style of slot machines I don’t typically play because they are expensive and have minimal pay-outs. I quickly won $80 and then just gave it right back.

This morning I will take advantage of a free breakfast before my scheduled visit to the spa for a massage at 11 AM. After all, this is supposed to be a relaxing vacation.
