A look back on fitness

Back in December last year, I finally signed up for a gym membership again. After switching homes, I also started cooking more regularly and more healthily again and reduced meals to breakfast and lunch (most days).

Sure, there were cheat days, and with the new home I didn’t spend as much time in the gym as I wanted, but the results speak for themselves.

At the end of last year, I was around 100 kilograms. Not really good, but also not alarmingly fat. I could still walk 10 kilometers per day if I wanted to (hiking) and climb a few floors without stopping at each. Still, I have a genetic predisposition for higher cholesterol, so losing weight was and is always a goal.

And today I can happily announce I’m down to 88.6 kilograms. A long-term goal would still be below 70, as that would be an “ok weight” for my height (171 centimeters). I just rendered my 1se.co for this year, and you can see the weight loss in my face. It got quite slimmer over the past year. And it was achieved way easier than I expected (regular gym & eating more thoughtfully).

I’ll be switching to a new gym next week (where I do the networking and computer stuff) and want to establish a routine again then. My brother also signed up there, so there is even more motivation building up.

We’ll see how the progress continues through the next year.

Wow nice. That’s more than 10kg weight loss… no easy feat!

Thanks. I didn’t even expect it; I just bought a new smart scale a few weeks back and was quite surprised (in a good way) how far it went down with only “minor” changes.
