A new watch....maybe

I think it might finally be time for a new watch; an Apple Watch, of course. Having to set the watch to low-power mode every morning is a sign the battery is wearing out and that it is time for a new one. When I looked back through my records, I realised my current watch was purchased in November 2021. In technology terms, that makes it almost a veteran. Over the years, it has faithfully tracked my walks, delivered notifications, monitored my health, and served as a convenient extension of my iPhone. It has certainly earned its keep.

That said, there is always the temptation of new technology. The latest Apple Watch offers improvements in performance, battery life, health monitoring and display quality. Every year, Apple introduces a few new features that make upgrading seem worthwhile. As someone who enjoys keeping up with technology, it is easy to be drawn to the idea of a shiny new device on my wrist. However, patience may be the smarter option. Apple traditionally announces new watch models later in the year, and with only a few months to wait, it makes sense to hold off for now. Waiting would give me the opportunity to compare the latest model with current offerings and decide whether the new features justify the expense. After nearly five years of service, my Apple Watch owes me nothing.
