Appify my newsletter?

I’ve been thinking about what channels I can use to promote my newsletter. Right now my newsletter is a sandcastle I’ve built with an empty moat. I need to dig out to sources that can provide water for my moat, preferably integrating deeply with my newsletter. For example, I could write articles on Medium about the craft of writing and link to writing exercises on my newsletter.

But I had a eureka moment today. What if I could use AI to put together an app-like experience for my exercises on a website? I could make the pages on my website a canonical link and, in this scenario, the newsletter would be a channel feeding the website.

My writing exercises all follow a standard template. I could set up a script where I feed an exercise in as JSON and it would display the exercise as a multi-part step-by-step set of instructions that the user completes in-browser. It could have a timer and word-count feature. Press a button to see an example of the current step being completed. Then when done, the user exports or prints what they wrote.

That would be the “minimum valuable product.” The first version would be quick and dirty. No saved state or user profiles. The user would have to export their writing in order to keep it. But it would be a reason for people to visit the site from the newsletter, to work on the exercises in-browser.

Can I whittle down the idea to something simple enough that I’ll actually do the work?
