Australia Day drive

How lucky for me that someone else in the Zoom Zoom club had decided to organise an Australia Day run in the same location where I was spending my holiday? As part of my relaxing holiday in Bright, I was able to join some like-minded roadster enthusiasts on a 400-kilometre drive around the Keiwa Valley in northeastern Victoria.

We left Bright and travelled north on the Ovens Highway before turning right on the Happy Valley Road, over the hills and onto the Keiwa Valley Highway. We then followed the banks of the Hume Weir towards Jingelic. The weir is about 85% full at the moment, and it was a very picturesque drive alongside it.

After lunch, we looped around Walwa and back towards Tallangatta before heading south on the Gundowring Road towards Tawonga. The last section of our trip was up and over the Tawonga Gap. This is an ideal road for a spirited run, but we got held up by another car driving over cautiously on the bends. Eventually, we passed the slow vehicle at the top of the Tawaonga Gap and had a spirited run down the hill back into Bright.

Overall, it was an enjoyable way to spend the Australia Day holiday.

Sounds like a lovely drive through gorgeous landscapes! Does the club ever record your drives? Can imagine it’ll be pretty fun to watch on Youtube!

Not usually @jasonleow, but I will make an effort this year to get you some footage to watch, both social drives and motorsport.
