Authentic human connection

My dad has been having problems with his well and his friend Deano stopped by today to help fix the problem. I was thinking about who I would turn to if I had a problem like this and the answer is, of course, the Internet. I don’t have the vast network of friends with a shared history in the outskirts of the city I live in. And even then, the people I do know don’t really have practical skills–just like me. I would have to search online to find a number to call and schedule an appointment with a business.

Meanwhile, I’m watching more videos complaining about AI. Influencers on YouTube wonder if they’ll be able to keep making a living in the age of AI. Will the authenticity of human connection win out?

I keep wondering, is that what you think this is? A community? Authentic human connection? I suppose if I’m having a problem, these “authentic humans” I’m “connecting with” will spend the day sweating in my basement to help me out? 😅

I had to read the first sentence a few times to realize what you meant by “well” because I wasn’t expecting that. 😂

And yes, the meaning of “authentic human connection” seems to have been diluted, like calling everyone you meet a friend. Sure you can be friendly with everyone, but to what extent would you go out of your way to help them?
