A few hours back, I arrived at my Apartment again. And I’m tired. Those who “follow me” since 200WaD days know Christoph, my best friend, snores like a walrus. When we go on vacation together, like this time, we normally share a room. Since the cruise a few years back, and more recently the America trip, I should know better.

I did mange to fall asleep every night, but most of the time at least an hour later than he. It seems like he can lay down and immediately start snoring.

Anyway, since I had nothing better to do while trying to sleep yesterday, I listened closer to his snoring. I think he breathes too often (normal range about 10 to 12 breaths a minute), and something is clearly not working correctly in the whole breathing apparatus. He starts with short breaths which get longer over the course of about a minute, by then, the heavy snorting sets in until a sudden huge breath in followed by a short stop and then the cycle starts again.

Snoring is one thing, but the pattern definitely can’t be right. I told him that and even made a three-minute video covering the whole cycle. I hope he talks to his doctor sooner than later. I can’t imagine his getting a good sleep with that.

You should keep pestering him about it until he takes action. As you know, that breathing pattern suggests deprivation of oxygen during sleep, which is a critical hit night after night.

We even discussed oxygen deprivation as a neighbour of him was recently diagnosed with it. I’ll keep nagging him, but I think he’s in denial. If he did an examination, he would need to take action (loose a whole load of weight). As long as he doesn’t do the examination, he doesn’t “know for sure”. Obviously, that’s a shitty thought process.
