Today, I did a 5-kilometre walk/run to test my running fitness and see how I would perform. I alternated between walking and running to gauge my stamina and was pleasantly surprised to find that my aerobic fitness was good. Although I did experience some discomfort in my knee, I was able to run a good part of the route without getting out of breath. In fact, I felt so good that I ran non-stop for the last half of the run/walk. It felt fantastic to be back running.

My next goal is to complete my walk/run routine three times every week until I feel comfortable running the full distance. Once I achieve that, I plan to increase the distance gradually. Who knows, if I continue to progress, I might even be fit enough to participate in the half marathon scheduled in October.
