BBQ Season

I went to the store today to get some zucchini, paprika and two steaks. I decided yesterday that it was time to bring out my small charcoal grill onto the balcony to start the barbecue season.

But I found myself in a small inconvenience: if I bring down the awning, I would lose power on one of the photovoltaic panels, but could cook without getting cooked myself. So I waited a little bit, but proceeded to bring down the awning and set up the grill.

I had a nice lunch, put the awning back up and stored the grill. Afterwards, I laid down beneath the panels and had a quick power nap. Now I’m back inside and will be working a little bit, while my portable AC unit is running along to keep the Apartment cool.

A day spent nice, I would argue.

So are the photovoltaic panels your primary power source?

@therealbrandonwilson Not nearly. Only 800Wp (Watt peak) are allowed in such small installations. So the theoretical max output is 800Wh (Watt hours). Still, I’m currently getting above 2kWh (kilo watt-hours) per day. I’ve set up a custom statistics page: https://life.phaidenbauer.com/pvWHG . The one of my parents (around 8,6kWp) can be viewed here https://life.phaidenbauer.com/pvKaibing
Having around 10 kWh to 12 kWh usage, it’s only a drop on the hot stone, but still, better than nothing. “Verbleibende Monate bis zur Amortisation” is the months until the cost of the system breaks even with the produced power, considering the average production rate. Will be interesting to see the numbers after a whole year of production.

@jasonleow It is, but perfect for a “slow” weekend.
