Today was the perfect summer’s day, and I enjoyed a Zoom Zoom club with fourteen other members. The plan was to drive up the Falls Creek road and proceed to Omeo. However, the road to Falls Creek was still closed due to a landslide, so we had to reroute up Mount Hotham instead.

From Mount Hotham, we descended through Dinner Plains to Omeo, where we had an extended stop. Omeo is a historic Gippsland gold mining town on the Great Alpine Road, and it is an excellent base from which to explore the national parks and alpine surroundings. After leaving Omeo, we stopped off the road alongside the Mitta River to have a picnic lunch. Under the shade of some trees, it was a great place to rest and chat about the day so far.

After lunch, we drove through Mitta Mitta, one of those Australian towns where it is so important its name has to be repeated. It is a beautiful little hamlet nestled in the Mitta Valley in northeast Victoria, situated at the Junction of the Mitta Mitta River and Snowy Creek.

From Mitta Mitta, we returned to Bright, travelling a distance of 365 kilometres. Though we had to take a longer trip than planned, no one seemed to mind. It was a terrific drive.
