The Automator on my Apple MacBook Air is a powerful tool that enables users to design custom workflows for repetitive tasks. The best part is that I don’t have to master complex programming or scripting languages to use it. Instead, I can utilise any of the hundreds of actions available in the Automator Library to build workflows, letting me interact with various apps and elements of macOS. For instance, I wanted a straightforward way to toggle flags on emails in the Mail app, so I created an automation linked to a keyboard shortcut. Now, toggling the flag status of any email is effortless.

In the past, I dedicated countless hours to scouring the vast expanse of the internet in search of insightful hints and proper syntax to craft effective Apple Scripts. Often, my efforts felt fruitless, leaving me frustrated by a lack of inspiration. However, the advent of artificial intelligence has completely transformed my approach to developing Apple Scripts within Automator. Now, I can pose my requirements to ChatGPT, efficiently generating the exact syntax I need. If the provided script doesn’t perfectly address my requirements, I can request adjustments from ChatGPT, allowing me to fine-tune it. Thanks to this innovative method, I have designed various workflow actions explicitly tailored for apps like Mail and Reminders, enhancing my productivity and streamlining my daily tasks.

I’m trying to assess when I would need to toggle the flag status of emails. 🤣 I have never used Automator, but I’m sure it is helpful for certain use cases.

Can you give more examples of the kinds of automations you’ve created? I feel like I’m not imaginative enough to know how I can make use of it. 😅

The only thing I’ve used Automator for is to create a shortcut for capitalizing the highlighted text, and even that stopped working for some reason. 🤣😭

I know I can click and drag an email from Mail to Reminders. I created a script that will make a reminder when I flag an email, adding a link back to the email and a due date today. Another automation is associated with a keyboard shortcut that archives email from the inbox.
