Coastal calm

Today was a clear, gentle break in the chill that drew my wife and me down to the coast. We set out along the track from Cape Schanck towards Bushrangers Bay, with a clear sky and little or no breeze. The walk was one of those easy, companionable ones. Not much said, but plenty shared. The steady rhythm of our steps, the distant crash of waves against the rugged cliffs, and the occasional call of seabirds carried on the breeze. The path wound through low coastal scrub, opening now and then to sweeping views of Bass Strait, blue and endless.

As we descended toward Bushrangers Bay, the landscape around us began to shift, becoming more sheltered and intimate. The beach lay quietly nestled between the headlands, as if keeping its own secret from the rest of the world. We paused there for a while, taking in the serene scene, feeling grateful for the stillness and calm. The return journey was just as picturesque and peaceful. We really enjoyed a simple day filled with good weather, a leisurely walk, and great scenery. It was nothing extraordinary, but it felt like exactly what we needed to recharge and reconnect. For tomorrow, we are back to work.
