Content Flywheel

It’s a phenomena that I keep learning more and more about recently, and one that I’m only just starting to realize the value of.

There was a great thread on Twitter the other day about writing tips and how to write effectively. I got a lot out of the tips themselves, but what amazed me was the way it was written.

The author essentially just had to find and post tweets that he had already written about writing beforehand.

The whole thread was made up of other threads the author had written previously on all sorts of writing topics. This meant he wrote a great, fairly viral thread that he didn’t even have to put much creative thought into. He was basically just summarizing his already-existing work.

This leans into the idea of a content flywheel, essentially a mechanism by which the act of creating content begets the creation of more content. It’s brilliant, really, as it means you get exponentially increasing reward from more effort.

It also has great implications for things like SEO that depend pretty heavily on backlinks. The more you write on a given subject, the more blogs you’ll be able to link together, which increases your SEO rankings.

Just more motivation to continue cranking out good work!

Yeah! That thread also made me think about the posts we write here, how we can link to it
