Day 2

Of my 1 week experiment with waking up early.

Two words.
Colossal failure.

I went to bed very early yesterday. I was exhausted and had managed to not take a nap in the middle of the day. So by 8pm, I was in bed and probably asleep. I woke up at 11am thinking it was morning and time to wake up. I was amazed at how deeply I had slept already. I am liking this - I thought to myself.

Then for the next 2 hours, I was unable to go back to sleep. On top of that, my sugar started acting up and I had to wait until it was stable. Eventually it did and I went back to deep sleep.

When I woke up at 6am, I didn’t feel as refreshed as I had hoped. I updated my Oura ring and it confirmed that my body temperature was elevated and that I need to take it easy. My sleep score was just 75 after all those hours in bed.

Regardless, I woke up and started my day. Traffic was heavier than the previous day but still not too bad. After dropping my dad to the conference, I wondered where I should go and if I would be productive. But I was drained for some reason and knew I couldn’t be productive. So I drove back home. In traffic. And slept for 2.5 hours. I didn’t think I needed to rest that bad but oh well.

I am still a bit off despite the nap so I am going to try and sleep before 9pm again. Day 3 should be better.

I thought it’s still a win, that you listened to your body and drove back to nap. You needed it and you heeded the call.
