Don't go out in the rain

We’ve had three beautiful days this week, with temperatures in the mid-twenties and barely a drop of rain. Unfortunately, that is all about to change. Tomorrow marks the start of what looks like three straight days of heavy rain, so I’m already planning my day around the forecast. With the boys needing their walks, I’ve been keeping a close eye on the hourly precipitation forecast on my phone, looking for those brief windows when we might be able to get outside without getting soaked. There seem to be a few opportunities tomorrow, though not many. The forecast isn’t always 100 per cent accurate, but it’s certainly useful for planning the day.

This realisation highlights how much has changed since I was a kid. Back then, checking the weather usually meant tuning in to the evening news on TV or flipping through the newspaper to find the forecast. There were no hourly updates, radar images, or alerts warning of rain. Today, I can simply pick up my phone to see detailed, hour-by-hour weather predictions, which is incredibly convenient. Technology truly makes life easier at times, and I hope I don’t get caught in unexpected rain.
