Yet another layoff, yet another job search finished.

I’ve officially finished the paperwork and am waiting to start a new job!

It’s a bit different from other jobs I’ve taken, and I’m trying to figure out how to reckon with it: it’s a full time, contract-to-hire software engineering position with a major gaming company in their information security organization. So, it’s technically a full-time job, but it’s technically an hourly, contract position as well.

Confusion aside, one of the more relieving aspects is that it’s a job I’ll like with a pretty decent annual pay increase of about $20K. In this odd market, I was incredibly worried I was going to have to take a pay cut and/or work a job I hate. I was also worried I was going to start pushing pretty far into my severance as well.

Luckily, it all worked out. Now I’m just excited to have that structure of having a job back.

Congrats! An annual pay increase of $20K is far better than decent in my book.
