First draft on the Freewrite Alpha

So today, my freewrite alpha arrived. Of course, I’m already trying some drafting on it.

The keyboard is quite nice, although I will need to adapt to it. It is “full size” but comparing it to my mechanical “das keyboard” it is way smaller. Anyway.

Besides the keyboard, everything seems to be working quite nice. Interestingly, I can’t download the new Firmware, which I should be able to download. We’ll see if I can get it soon. At least, sending drafts to Dropbox and Email seems to be working perfectly fine. Now we just need to wait for the Firmware update to arrive, as there are several fixes included.

Ahh so you finally got it. No excuses for keeping the ol’ streak going, then?

Probably. Also, no more excuse to not write fiction 🙈

I have the Freewrite Traveler. I love the idea of making things like editing deliberately difficult. The design is focused on input alone and can help break some bad habits.

I hope I can break this “edit” on the go habit with it. We’ll see.

Ugh, that feature alone makes it a no-go for me. I have no interest in breaking what’s working.

@therealbrandonwilson Yeah, process changes are painful. That’s why a tool like this can be so helpful when one does want to make a change. A few years back I switched to a left-handed mouse to force myself to get better at keyboard shortcuts. It worked, and eventually I even became more adept with my left hand.

I tried the left-hand mouse trick as well, not for keyboard shortcuts but for ergonomic benefit. It didn’t work out. I’m certainly open to changing things that should be changed, but I’m also a big advocate of not fixing what’s not broken.
