Over the weekend, my oldest daughter completed her fourth marathon in an outstanding time of 3 hours and 43 minutes. Watching her journey through four marathons has been inspiring, not only for the times she has recorded but also for the dedication, discipline and determination behind every training run and every kilometre covered. When I asked how she improved, she said it was sticking to a training plan and doing the hard runs when required.

Her first marathon was completed in 4 hours and 8 minutes, a tremendous achievement in itself. For most people, simply finishing a marathon is a lifetime goal. Yet she saw that first race not as a destination but as the beginning of a journey. Through patience, hard work and countless early mornings, she steadily improved, learning from each race and growing stronger, both physically and mentally. Taking more than 25 minutes off an already respectable marathon time is a remarkable accomplishment. It reflects years of commitment and a willingness to keep pushing herself beyond what she once thought possible.

I could not be prouder. The finishing time is impressive, but what makes me proudest is the resilience, perseverance and character she has shown along the way. Four marathons, four lessons, four successes, and a daughter who continues to prove that persistence and hard work can achieve extraordinary things.
