Things I like to do, when I’m not working:

  • Go on long bike rides.
  • Go out paddleboarding.
  • Be the “#1 Dad” my coffee mug implores me to be.
  • Spend quality time with friends and family.
  • Read books just for the fun of it.
  • Cook fresh meals from scratch.
  • Visit new places, near and far.
  • Play a whole lot of guitar.

Things I like to do, when I’m working:

  • Learn as much as I can, and help others learn too.
  • Use my skills to make other people’s work easier and more enjoyable.
  • Build awesome collaborative relationships with colleagues.
  • Put systems thinking skills into practice.
  • Make smart money decisions that help me stay profitable and grow my financial independence.
  • Chase after what George Carlin called the 5 A’s (Attention / Approval / Admiration / Approbation / Applause ) – yes this is a a bit vain, but… it’s honest.

In the past, I’ve often planned out my yearly goals by thinking about the specific projects I should work on, the specific skills I want to improve on, my specific financial targets, etc.

This year I’m starting by making this quick inventory of what feels good, and then I’ll start to piece together a plan that lets me do more and more of all of the above, if all goes well.

@practicingdev Oh I like this approach. Sometimes I get too tunnel-visioned on intentions, goals and targets that I forget enjoyability too. Might give this exercise a try!

And congrats on your first post! Welcome to Lifelog! Glad to have another dev here :)

Thanks @jasonleow!

Excited to try this app out and see if it sticks. Love the idea of baking tiny habits right into the very core of the product.
