I am remarkable
Melanie • 17 Jul 2026 •
For so long, I thought I had to be better than others, to be remarkable.
I thought I had to:
be the best at something,
work hard for it,
do things the right way,
please others,
prove myself,
earn respect.
However, I could never really figure out what my thing, the thing that I could become the best at, could be. And I kept looking for it.
And while doing so, I was comparing whether I did better than others.
Inevitably, I’d fall short every time.
Of course, there’s always somebody better at the thing that I’m merely good at.
(Except maybe if you’re Roger Federer ;-) )
All this searching, working hard, and comparing myself drove me crazy and exhausted me.
Now, I know I am remarkable simply because I am the way I am.
The combination of my strengths and talents is unique.
And my essence is different and makes me special.
I am different and special.
And I don’t need to prove it.
And you don’t need to prove it either.
You’re different and special, too.
We’re all different and special.
We’re all remarkable, just the way we are.
Let’s remind ourselves of that.
