I'm starting to see the real value of my attention
Melanie • 10 Sept 2026 •
I haven’t properly valued my time, energy, and attention.
Lately, I’ve invested it in people and projects, hoping that it would bring a good return on investment, be that heartfelt gratitude, them resonating with my ideas, truly seeing the potential, contributing generously with their valuable ideas, feedback, or even wanting to collaborate.
But many of them were busy with their own projects, problems, and goals. So I tried to help them, even if they didn’t ask for it. And like this, got distracted and lost a lot of energy and time.
I know my attention is scarce. It’s the most valuable thing I have. And I still have so many ideas and visions of what I wanna create.
Therefore, more than ever:
- I wanna treat my attention as sacred and be careful of what I allow to take it
- I wanna plan better and give myself the structure and routines I need, so that I use my best attention for my highest priority
- I wanna set containers and stay within the time limits. Timebox
- I wanna protect my time, energy, and attention from people who don’t value it adequately. That means setting boundaries, saying no (if it’s not a hell yeah), and walking away from opportunities that don’t feel aligned.
- I wanna charge for what my attention is worth.
What’s the value of your attention?
What’s a good return on investment for you, at this moment of your life, with your current goals?
