Insurance.

Today, I was trying to get my dad health insurance.

I consider myself very knowledgeable when it comes to insurance and healthcare. But after 2 days of trying to make a selection, I accepted defeat. None of this makes sense. I feel like the wording is there just to confuse and frighten people looking to get good coverage.

I asked my siblings to look at the coverage so we could make a wise decision based on all 3 of us. None of them were excited at the prospect of looking through this stuff. So this afternoon, we finally did. After a good 45 minutes, we declared that this stuff is worse than calculus. We even asked ChatGPT to break things down but it didn’t help much.

In the end, we played it safe and selected something in the middle that will be ok unless a very extreme condition happens.

I am mentally exhausted after that.

I’ve been in the insurance industry for over twenty years, and I bet I’d still have a hard time deciphering the different plans.

Likewise - I have been in car insurance for over 16 years. Still feels like Greek to me.
