Joy on every journey

I purchased my first Mazda MX-5 back in 2007, a classic white 1991 NA model, which ignited a lasting passion for MX-5s that has never truly faded. Over the years, I’ve owned five more, each with its own unique character and memories I cherish. My current MX-5 is a 2017 ND RF, which I bought brand new shortly after the retractable fastback version launched. It’s hard to believe that next March, this car will be celebrating its ten-year anniversary. Even more astonishing is that, within the next week or so, the odometer will cross the 100,000-kilometre mark, a milestone that makes me reflect on the many adventures and experiences I’ve had with this remarkable vehicle.
For some cars, that might feel like a sign that they’re getting old. For me, it feels like this one is just getting properly run in. Mine has covered plenty of kilometres over the years, from ordinary everyday trips to memorable drives with the Zoom Zoom Club, and I still love getting behind the wheel. One hundred thousand kilometres sounds like a lot, but I’m hoping there are hundreds of thousands more kilometres of roadster fun still ahead, as this car continues to deliver reliability and joy on every journey.
