When the builder left the front door open, Louie the Groodle knew it was time to escape. Unfortunately, no one noticed his escape for almost an hour, by which time he was far away.

A frantic search in the surrounding streets failed to find him, and panic started to set in. I was summoned home from work to help search for him, and my youngest daughter worried that someone might kidnap him. I assured her that wasn’t the case, as most people are good and would want Louie back with his family.

Apart from his microchip, Louie had no identification on him, so it would be difficult for anyone to contact us if they found him. However, just as I was getting a little anguish about Louie, I received a call from the local dog catcher. A family had found Louie while walking their dog and contacted the local council. The local dog catcher then scanned Louie’s microchip and was able to get my contact details.

Louie was unaware of the anguish and fuss he had caused. He jumped into my car, and I took him home. Before my departure, the dog catcher warned me that if he found Louie on the street again, then he would have to fine me. I assured him that it wouldn’t happen again and thanked him for his help.
