Meetings

I think one of the most frustrating things in tech is the meetings. I remember previously I got to a point where my employer had 5 or more standing meetings per week, sometimes spanning every single day of the week.

Frankly, most of them weren’t even discussions that could have been an email, they’re discussions meant entirely to allow one or two people to hear the sound of their own voice and bestow that gift upon half a dozen or more others.

Starting this new job, frankly I’ve been shocked at how few meetings there are, and how high-value they’ve been. For the most part, they’re justifiable, to the point and stay on-topic. Everyone on the team seems to have an innate resistance to meetings instead of an all-too strong preference for them.

Needless to say, it’s a welcome change.
