I just came back from a short trip to the Muar and Kluang districts, which was my first visit to these areas. My parents never took me out of Johor Bahru when I was young, and I wasn’t the type of child who enjoyed exploring. Because of this, I know very little about other districts in Johor.

To ensure my kids don’t have similar experiences, I decided to take them to Muar and Kluang to help them learn more about Johor. After our visit, we concluded the following:

  1. Muar feels like a small town where things are more laid back. Even during rush hour, we didn’t encounter much traffic. We found some delicious food in remote areas at affordable prices.

  2. Kluang is more lively, with some moderate traffic but still manageable. Compared to Muar, there are more modern shops, but there are also old-fashioned stores selling great products.

Overall, the visit left us with a positive impression, and we are planning to revisit these places with my parents soon.

As Singaporean, I always got a secret dream to do a road trip through Malaysia, driving through small towns like the ones you mentioned
