No sick leave

My wife recently left her stable job to start her own consultancy. Although her business is still in its early stages, she has secured several good contracts within the first four months. The biggest change that she’s experiencing is the lack of security and benefits that come with a permanent job.

Today, she was feeling unwell and decided to take some rest. However, as a self-employed individual, she does not have the luxury of taking sick leave, and there is no one else to manage her work. Once she feels better, she will have to resume her work on the projects and potentially work extra hours during evenings or weekends to make up for the lost time. Nevertheless, she finds a silver lining in working for herself. She gets to regulate the pace of her work and enjoys the flexibility that comes with being self-employed.

I would like to follow in her footsteps, at least by leaving the main job.
