Notebooks FTW

I have been continuing to use my Moleskine notebook to make a small list of tasks I need to complete. I wrote about it last week how using tools such as Outlook aren’t perfect for managing my todo’s.

The benefit of using a manual notebook is that it is there, right in front of me. I tend to place it in front of my laptop so that I am resting my arms or wrists on it as I type. Because it is there and impossible to ignore, I glance down at it often, looking at the list of items, adding to it now and again and crossing off what I have completed.

I am even adding less important things to the list too, just so I can tick them off. It is a nice way to see that I have been doing something today. I certainly won’t write “Doomscroll Reddit for 30 minutes” though.

I might go back and re-read the Bullet Journal Method again, taking some tips from his process. At the moment, I am just writing daily lists, moving items from yesterday to today when they are not complete. The Bullet Journal Method is a little more advanced, with separate lists, monthly planning sections and reviews. I like the way the minimal setup works for him; simple black and white text and no fancy doodles.

@tao Is Moleskine your fav go-to notebook? I tried but the black leather covers had a gravity and preciousness to it that made me not want to write in it. I ended up going with Field Notes, smaller, thinner notebooks that I can finish for each project

Yeah, I have a bit of a Moleskine addiction TBH. There is a bargain store in the UK called TK Maxx and they tend to have lots of Moleskine there. However, I did find that I enjoyed buying them more than using them. I think I have a small collection to get through. Once I found the Bullet Journal training, I moved on to buying the dot-grid LEUCHTTURM1917 which feel more “premium” than the Moleskine. Although, I have had one for a few years and still not used it 😂
There is sometimes too much promise in an empty book to make a start.

@tao your last sentence hits the spot! Exactly why I have more unused Field Notes notebooks than used ones haha
