Hey there 👋

How are you?

Reply to this email with one word to describe your mood at this moment. It would simply make my day to hear about how my listeners are feeling. At the end of the day, music is all about them feels.

I would never have expected in a million years that over 80 listeners would be tuning into my newsletter and playlist every month, so thank you all again for being here.

To anyone who has gone out of their way to tell me how much they are enjoying the playlist, thank you for the kind words!

##Theme of the month: 🍄 Optimistic Electronic

Recently, I had a close friend reach out to me and ask for song recommendations for her upcoming half-marathon race playlist. It immediately made me think about the kind of music that keeps me running; to keep going regardless of how tough things get. For me, it’s the type of music that I would describe as “Optimistic Electronic.” What makes this kind of music so special to me is that it reflects the optimistic lens through which I view the world, where the most beautiful and admirable qualities are that of people - the desire to fight and persist in the face of great tragedies and challenges; to continuously forge our own path in navigating through the push-and-pull of our differing realities. If you listen closely to the beats and the space between each repetition, you will hear how each artist finds their own way to speak, inspire, and guide us towards the place we want to be.

This month’s curation is completely jam-packed with song choices that are inspired by that intention. So whether you are training for an upcoming race, taking a bus ride down to Boston, or just trying to summon up the oomph necessary to complete a project, I hope you will persevere, and perhaps one day find a way to pass along that energy and courage to others who desperately need it.

Song Highlight:

Track 2: Beyond Beliefs - Ben Bohmer

His music always transports me to a world that is high up in the sky and filled with astonishing colors. Just watch & listen to him perform on a hot air balloon

Track 12: Proud - Qrion

Here’s a track telling you “I’m so proud” over and over again because we all need to hear it and know that we are seen, and that the things we produce and create have value.

Track 17: Burnt - Kiasmos

This track is taken from the the duo (formed by Olafur Arnalds & Janus Ramussen)'s 2014 debut album. I am still patiently waiting for their new music!

Track 21: You Can Do It - Caribou

Sometimes the best kind of positivity is the kind that you can listen to over and over and over again without feeling that the meaning is diluted.

In the famous words of Rob Schneider, "You Can Do It.”
