PPL (Private Pilot Licence)

Back on 200WaD, I wrote about getting the PPL. I was pretty enthusiastic when Christoph (the best friend I mentioned) and I signed up back in the day. We did the radio certificate together and just waited for the theory and practice course to start.
Well, fast-forward a few years, I was regularly doing the duties at the airfield that came with the airfield club (catering the canteen, unlocking, radioing at the tower) and waiting for the courses to start.
Then suddenly, I heard that a course was started, but nobody notified my about it. That’s when I pulled the ripcord. I was waiting years for the course to start (well, waited for more people signing up), spent multiple weekends at the airfield (sure, I’ve enjoyed the time there, but still) and then they just forget about me?
Anyway, nowadays, I enjoy flying virtually again, but the plan to one time do the pilot licence isn’t off the table.

At this pedicular airfield I was, it was even mandatory and part of being in the club. Most of the tiny airfields do it that way here in Austria. Just to add more detail, the Airfield is only open Saturday and Sundays from sunrise to sunset. Also, there are special ICAO Rules for that kind of Airfields, basically the “Tower” doesn’t need to be manned and stuff like that.

You can be a volunteer for airfield duties? 😯😯
