Putting the AI in air fry

Winkletter • 12 Sept 2024 •
I’m taking my first step into what I consider modern web development by taking the air fryer calculator I made with GPT Engineer and deploying it with Netlify. I picked up a discount dot club domain for $2.99 and I plan to just play around with the domain to learn what I’m doing before trying to build more complex apps. For example, I might connect the site to Supabase so users can sign in and save their own air fryer settings just so I can practice building an app with a backend.
I also stumbled across another interesting AI dev tool. It’s made by Vercel (maintainers of Next.js) and works a bit like WebSim or GPT Engineer. It looks more like ChatGPT but has a focus on coding. It seems to be optimized more for creating Shadcn UI components for React, but they also support Vue and are planning to support more frameworks like Svelte. (Thanks to ChatGPT for explaining all that to me.) I made another version of a shy popup, but it took a few prompts to get the demo working. I think v0 works best for developers who want to add components to an existing project, but given that this is run by Vercel, I would be surprised if they’re not planning something more comprehensive that can deploy straight to their platform.

This is useful single feature app! I can imagine not everyone knows the ideal airfry setting for common airfry food items

@therealbrandonwilson I find mozzarella sticks are much less likely to bleed out in an air fryer.
@jasonleow It would be hilarious if this throw-away practice project became my most popular creation.

@Winkletter It’s always the joke apps and meme projects that end up doing well. Always.

I like how mozzarella sticks are one of the common items. Those should be a staple for any air fryer owner. Chicken wings as well.
