Radio station

While offline I’ve been listening to more music than I usually do. While I don’t have much of an internal monologue that runs in the background, I do find that music plays in my head when there is silence. I might hear snippets of the lyrics, but for the most part I just hear the instrumentals. The more a song gets stuck in my head, the more pressure I feel to play it. And the more I play it, the more I’ll hear that song.
I always feel a little sad when I think about how copyright has turned music into a commodity. There was a time when music was something we did as communities. People shared songs. They sang together. The way music plays in my head seems like evidence that music should be a fundamental human right.
To give you some idea what I’m dealing with, here are some of the songs I’ve noticed playing on my personal radio station recently. It’s a bit all over the place.
- Zombie by Fela Kuti
- The Lucky One by Alison Krauss and Union Station
- Ivan the Crayfish by Otava Yo
- Graffiti by CHVRCHES
- Ca Plane Pour Moi by Plastic Bertrand
Do you have ear worm? I was completely oblivious to this condition until a friend of mine opened up to me about having it.
