A writing prompt:

'You meet a cartographer who maps emotions instead of geography. They hand you a folded parchment labeled "Today." What does your emotional terrain look like?'

I wanted to save this prompt for future use because today did not feel so special, but I could always reuse it. I like this idea better, so that I can look back at my different terrains:

Today, looking at the future, or a month from now, does not feel like running towards a sharp cliff. The anxiety of an unknown, unpredictable future did not feel so dark, so sharp, instead, that cliff transformed into the peak of a hill that curved into a soft valley. Maybe a valley that looked much prettier drawn than in real life, with a peaceful stream and all kinds of pastel flowers, some that do not even bloom in that kind of terrain; nonetheless, today's landscape looked brighter.

The mood is painted by splashes of color warring with the calmer blue/grey tones of the moon and the clouds. This expresses today's forms of idle entertainment, which were good distractions and did not reach the extent of 'escape', but also were trying to find harmony with my quieter, more reflective, and grounded self.

Even though I woke up extremely late, late for me, and I did not go to the gym, I was consumed today by this drawn map of a baby blue sky, full of endless choices and opportunities, and cherishing the peace of solitude in its valleys.
