Reading books

My parents didn’t encourage me to be a big reader as a young boy, so I’ve grown up not being a huge reader myself. Whenever I tried to read a book, I often found it uninteresting and was eager to finish it as quickly as possible. As a result, I couldn’t absorb what I was reading and instead chose to watch television rather than have the patience to read.
In recent years, I’ve become an avid listener of audiobooks, especially fiction. During long car rides, audiobooks became my preferred audio companion. My wife frequently recommended recently completed audiobooks, enticing me to try them. I was pleasantly surprised by the captivating stories and eagerly devoured each book, anticipating the next recommendation. This experience introduced me to the enchanting world of great stories, and I was thoroughly hooked.
Recently, I started reading paperbacks, and John Boyne, the Irish author, stands out as one of my favourite writers. He excels at crafting complex narratives with skill and grace. I’ve purchased several of his books in paperback and am deeply engaged in his enthralling tales. It’s surprising to realise how much I now enjoy reading after previously ignoring it for so long.
