Remarkable 2

In a flip to the conclusion not to buy one last May, I am again looking at the Remarkable 2 as a notetaking device. Back then, I concluded that I wasn’t ready to purchase one over an iPad with an Apple Pencil and a Paper-Like screen protector. I started using my iPad for handwritten notes but reverted to typing on my laptop.
What is new to the Remarkable 2 is the new connect service, which would allow me to manage the content on a desktop. This will enable you to import and export files to your Remarkable 2 device. There is also an integration with OneDrive, Google Docs and Dropbox. Therefore, marking up or signing a pdf document is now more accessible, as you can connect more document sources to the device.
Of course, the new Connect service for the Remarkable 2 comes at a cost. You get three months free if you purchase a new device, but it will cost $9.99 per month after that. I could buy a few paper notebooks for that price.
So, I am not yet convinced that it is a device I need or will use. It keeps tempting me to buy it with some of these new features, but I won’t get one just yet.

If you already write lots of handwritten notes, it might be a useful tool to digitize them. For me, all the benefits of physical writing are outweighed by the time it takes.

I have the original Remarkable and get free access to Connect, and I still don’t use it that much. I like drawing on it, but I just haven’t been doing much drawing lately. I would never buy it now if I had to pay for Connect. For that price you could get a drawing or note-taking app on the iPad with better features. Remarkable hasn’t done much development on the software, just tweaks really.

Good self control. I could, however, imagine getting into a nice morning rhythm of writing on a device that didn’t have a browser. But, like you say: paper.
