Rule changes

I had a croffle again today for breakfast. I’m still using the rule to decide on my next meal after finishing my current meal. I’m not counting calories. I’m not measuring macros. I’m not doing a week-long meal prep. I just make a decision a few hours in advance. On a white board I jot down a main dish and maybe a side. Just now I wrote, “tomato sandwich”. That’s my lunch.
But because I’m anticipating the meal, I won’t stop there. Today’s croffle was accompanied by some miso, a few apple slices, and some chick’n with onion slices. Rather until waiting until I’m hungry and lethargic, I keep coming back to the meal and adding a side until it feels complete. Olives would go nice with a tomato sandwich.
When I go to eat lunch, there’s a chance I’ll feel full already. Recently, I haven’t felt hungry when I sit down to eat. I think people would see that as a sign I’m overeating, but I see it as a sign that my meals are leaving me satiated.
- I’m eating at set times.
- I’m eating more complex meals.
- My choices are more varied.
And because of this I have a sense of fullness throughout the day that keeps me from snacking. I haven’t had a stroopwafel with my morning coffee for an entire week. And I’ve had a pint of ice cream in the freezer untouched because I’m saving it for my croffles.
I’m not managing my calories. I’m managing my hunger with a simple rule change.
