Single Point of Failure

There is nothing worse than something so small and simple ruining your plans. For me this week, it has been my work VPN and VNC. Perhaps it is a ploy to get me to come to the office again, but I have been plagued with constant disconnections, especially when on calls with Microsoft Teams. It has gotten to the point where I open a Teams meeting on my laptop and my phone too as I know at some point I will have to switch over as my VPN dies and constantly reconnects.
My other bugbear is VNC which I use to remotely control a PC to jump into a remote network. That also seems to be having issues over the last 7 days, randomly disconnecting me or not allowing me access. This morning, it allowed me to connect but not interact with the remote PC, then disconnected me and wouldn’t let me connect again. I also tried it on my MacBook, suspecting that my work had blocked the connection or the VPN was flaky again, but still the problem persists.
There is work I need to be getting on with, but I can’t without that VNC connection. Along with the flaky VPN, it’s the single point of failure in my armoury and I am useless without it.

Always annoying when we find that tiny thing supporting the whole infra

My client’s use of Global Protect has largely eliminated VPN issues. Teams continues its random connectivity problems.
